Sunday Cravings

I always loved Sundays 🙂 . Especially in winter. I don’t know if you do the same thing as well, but Sunday for me means lots of sleep, lots of cuddling and lots and lots of resting to be ready to face another full week! I try to never think that the next day is Monday and I’ll start running again. There’s no need to depress myself. And you know what? I have always something new and exciting waiting for me in the corner. Exactly like the books below that hit the shelves this week. So pick a cup of hot coffee or chocolate and let’s start (oh, and a cupcake! This pic always makes me hungry 🙂 )!

Jackie: Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she’s returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld… this time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can’t find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there’s a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

As Nikki’s time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she’s forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole’s…

I’m reading Everneath by Brodi Ashton right now and really enjoying it for it’s different approach. So, this will be my choice for this week.

Has: Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian

In the dark of night, a blood war escalates within the hidden world of the Breed. After existing in secret for many long centuries, maintaining a fragile peace with the humans who walk beside them unaware, a single act of retaliation has put the entire vampire nation at risk of discovery. It falls to the Order—a cadre of Breed warriors pledged to protect their own and humankind alike—to stop Dragos, the power-mad vampire at the center of the conflict, before his push for domination can explode into catastrophe.

At the center of the Order’s quest is Sterling Chase, once a morally rigid enforcer of Breed law, now a warrior fallen from grace, whose biggest battle is the one he wages against his own savage nature. With addiction beckoning him toward eternal darkness, Chase’s path to redemption has never seemed more out of reach. But when his eyes meet those of Tavia Fairchild, a beautiful witness who identifies him at the scene of a mission gone terribly wrong, Chase finds himself drawn to the woman—and convinced she is something much more than she seems.

Pulled into a vortex of intrigue and danger she can neither resist nor understand, Tavia is uncertain whom to trust. And while everything sane and logical warns her against getting close to Chase, she cannot deny that the handsome, deeply haunted male stirs something primal and ravenous within her. But even as she surrenders to her cravings, nothing can prepare her for the shattering truth of who—and what—she truly is.

As the Order’s enemy mobilizes for the battle of the ages, Dragos and his Minions unleashing a hell on Earth like nothing ever seen before, Chase and Tavia are thrust into the heart of the violence. With time running out and the streets running red with the blood of innocent lives, both Breed and human, together Chase and Tavia must find a way to defeat Dragos once and for all—or die trying..

This week I’ll go with the latest release in Lara Adrian’s series. Midnight Breeds is a series I’m thinking of picking up again.

Alisha: Horizon by Sophie Littlefield

Cass Dollar is a survivor. She’s overcome the meltdown of civilization, humans turned mindless cannibals, and the many evils of man.
But from beneath the devastated California landscape emerges a tendril of hope. A mysterious traveler arrives at New Eden with knowledge of a passageway North—a final escape from the increasingly cunning Beaters. Clutching this dream, Cass and many others decamp and follow him into the unknown.
She, and all of the other survivors, will fight to the death for the promise of a new horizon…

Books 1 and 2 of the Aftertime trilogy by Sophie Littlefield (Aftertime and Rebirth, respectively) were my top two favorite books of 2011. This, book three in the Aftertime trilogy, is the culmination of a gripping, chilling, thrilling, emotional, and amazing story arc. Cass Dollar’s epic odyssey of survival, set against the backdrop of the ignominious fall of civilization, absolutely moved me when I was introduced to it last year. I cannot wait to be shaken and stirred again…not to mention, find out the dang conclusion!!! ^_^ No mere zombie story, this. Sophie Littlefield, bring it on!!!!

So, which will be your Sunday Cravings for this week?

i’ve read an arc of Horizon – and it continues to put your emotions throught the wrangler…I felt so drained afterwards. Excellent finish to a fantastic series! My sunday craving? I want Sophie Littlefield to write more like this!

I can’t think that far ahead, but I just got my pre-order mail from Bookdepo regarding Lara Adrian. Which means it will be here in a week or three. This weekend I read Lothaire and Copper Beach and Wild Cat, which were my most anticipated reads for January. I want to read something I have won recently, and some oldies from my shelves. But I can only decide when I am standing before my shelves, contemplating what I am in the mood for 🙂

Me too Aurian 🙂 I sometimes just stand in front of my shelves just wondering what to pick up next!

They look great but I am mostly looking forward to reading the next Breed book by Lara Adrian. I’ve been loving that series.

I have only read the first book in the series and really enjoyed it. I have some serious catching up to do 🙂

You know I need to get to that series by Sophie Littlefield. I’m not much of a zombie person, but this series has caught my eye. Hope you all get what you are looking forward to. 🙂
