Welcome back to our special Love Letter Convention (LLC) of The Good, the Bad and the Are-You-Kidding-Me? You can check out our first post about the convention here. Caro and I are so excited! Next week it’s finally time. *jumps up and down*

So let’s see what shiny things will wait for us in Berlin.

Lisa Marie Rice / Bella Andre

Susi: At first glance I do like the Hot as Sin cobver. The dude is hot but now that I stared at it for a while I wonder about the background. Is it just sunset red forest or is it burning down? And did it rain or is he just awfully sweaty?Well there aren’t any flames- it’s just reddish. *shrug* The I Only Have Eyes For You is cutish contemporary romancy. Cliché and all. I prolly wouldn’t buy it of the cover alone because it doesn’t stand out. It’s not bad just well ordinary.

The Nightfire cover is hmmm….I’m not sure. I like the lower part of it. Don’t like the stock photo so much. The face are cut off weirdly. I’m not sure what it should tell me. He is some military dude and she prefers him naked? I really like the title and so on. The Reckless Night- Hot Secret covers disturbes me. I really hope it’s about vampires or zombies. LOL The guy looks kinda ridiculous. And too much input text wise on this one.

Caro: When looking at all the cover from Bella Andre, Hot as Sin was the one I liked the most. (The sequel was pretty hot too btw). That guy sure looks HOT literally and figuratively. I really love the model and I even liked his Wet-t-shirt contest state. The inflamed background makes his skin glow hot. Love it. Ok now Susi you’re making me doubt…I did think it was flames in the background lol. I guess we’ll never know. The cover for I Only Have Eyes for You reminds me a lot of another cover but I can’t remember which. It’s part of a series of cover with kissing people (some really awkward) and this one is in the Let’s-touch-faces category. It’s ok but nothing exceptional.

I like the Nightfire cover. My only problem is that at first glance i keep seeing some kind of sports-bra on the guy. I KNOW it’s not but my brain is weird like that. I do like how they are posing together. And for some strange reason I even like the white hair lol.

Reckless Night has some good elements, I really like the woman on it. She looks fierce…wait now that I’m staring at the cover it looks like she’s squinting >_<

Susi: Bwahahhahahaha now I see the bra too. LMAO

Lara Adrian / Nalini Singh

Susi: I do love the Angel’s Flight cover. The girl looks so young and well innocent. Her wings are so pretty but I don’t wanna know why the other feathers are flying around there. Who did they hurt? The Lord of the Abyss cover is ewwww. I didn’t care much for any covers in this series but the dude looks wrong- too shiny and too muscled for my taste. Make me actually shudder. The One thing i like about the Midnight Breed covers always was that they recognizable. You see them and know that is a book in this series. I have to say I liked the blurry ones more. When all the couple stuff was more in the background and not so prominent. I like the more subtly color on this one though. First thing I think when I look at the Lord of Vengeance cover is: That can’t be comfortable for the dude. He does that only to show off his six-pack. And well perhaps they shouldn’t have chosen a blue dress and did you notice the hirstorical romance font? I did and meh- so sick of it!

Caro: I do like the Angel’s Flight cover but her ‘I’m Walking in the Air’ pose looks a bit weird. I think she must have hit a pigeon or something…that would explaint he feathers LOL. See? She’s looking at poor pigeon spiraling down to the ground.

I knoooooooow right! I don’t like the Lord of the Abyss cover either. It looks SO freaking cheesy! The cape with the hood was the straw that broke the camel’s back (i love that saying). A big No no!

Ah! Indeed you can tell they are from the same series but they all look the same! I don’t like when covers are so bland you can mix them up easily.

I don’t like the historical cover either. Indeed his pose looks weird and staged. Also for once I don’t like the font. blergh. I don’t even like the blue thingy that looks very photoshopped. No thank you!

Micaela Jary (Ger) / Michelle Raven (Ger)

Susi: The Sehnsucht nach Sansibar (Longing for Zanzibar) is like most of the German romantic novels look like. It’s mostly for those low on the smex and big on the cheese. Or maybe that is just what I think of when I see one. It’s nice, the arrangmet is great but well I think cheesy book. I have to say Lyx is my favorite German publisher cover wise. I do like the Girl on The Gefährliche Vergangenheit (Dangerous Past) cover. BUT anyone thinks that the dude is taking a piss in the forest? I do like the way the cover pieces blend into each other but now I feel disgusted by dude. The Ghostwalker – Tag der Rache (Day of Vengeance) cover is okay. The guy looks too metro-sexual. His hair looks too much styled for my taste. And well the lion looks like a really badly done photoshop job. But I like the rest.

Caro: I really like the Sansibar thingy cover. I have NO idea what this book is about but I’m thinking of the Nile . It’s super pretty with colors I love. I really like it.

Bwhahaahahahah now I see the pissing dude Bwhahaahah. Oh my you just ruined it for me! LMAO It’s not that I don’t like the cover but I keep on staring at her eyes. Weird eyes. I think they wanted to add too many things on the cover.

That last cover disturbs me SO BAD. Come on, first the guy has a bad case of the Shiny Junks. Second, it looks like this is taking place inside a dead animal. I mean come ON, that looks like someone cut open the fur and BAM inside there’s this scene! Also I agree he looks so metro-sexual for my taste. Blergh.

Susi: LMAO, Shiny junks, bwahahahhahahahah. *giggles*

What do you think of these covers?? Like? Hate? Meh?

Have you read from these authors before? Which one would you recommend?

What do you think is the appeal of a shiny junk?

I have read the first Bella Andre book, and I liked it. Lisa Marie Rice is too erotic for my tastes. I love Nalini Singh but did not try that 4author series. Read only bad reviews, so happily skipped that.
German authors are totally unknown to me.
I still want to read a book by Maya Banks before next week!

I JUST received my Maya books! Now I need to read them before next week =P
I wanted to try them all before going but I seem to be too lazy LOL

I Only Have Eyes for You looks like a really lame direct-to-DVD romantic comedy:

“Oh, when we first met I had glasses and the rain was dripping your $2 halloween hair dye into your eyes. It was instant love but the storm tore us apart!

We’ve spent 10 years looking for eachother, but I got lasix and you went back to your natural color – our souls knew eachother even though our eyes deceived us!”

So, people who’ve read the book – how did I do?

Bwahahahaah now i want to know if you’re close to the truth 😉

Eh, I love Angel’s Flight cover ;). But yes that chick pose kinda weird. Is she flying? Is she floating? BTW my copy of it have a typo, instead Angel’s Flight, its Angels’ Flight 🙁

I wonder if the chick at Lord of Vengeance using clothes O.O, and poor the guy to pose like that

    • pattepoilue May 22, 2012 at 6:49 am

I know! Her weird pose is well…weird! Oh a typo! I have a copy of a Jeaniene Frost book with a typo in the title too. It’s so weird because it’s very obvious when you know it otherwise your brain just pass over it

    • Sullivan McPig May 22, 2012 at 5:28 pm

Mine also says Angels’ Flight. I must confess I never thought of it as a typo, but thought it meant there were more than one angel in flight.
