A talented painter in her early thirties, Paris Sweeney has achieved enviable success: her work sells at an exclusive New York City gallery, and her popularity is at an all-time high. Life is good, and Sweeney, as she prefers to be called, is content. But lately, Sweeney’s dreams – lush, vivid, and drenched in vibrant hues – seem to echo a growing restlessness that has taken hold of her. Welcome to this week’s news post, and its been a very drama ridden one for Romancelandia and Blogland and even for everyone at here at Book Lovers Inc.

First up, the genre of Romance took a total battering, (what else is new?) by columnist, Kimberly Sayer-Giles who cites, author Shaunti Fieldhahn, who studies into the differences between men and women. He states this humdinger “In fact, some marriage therapists caution that women can become as dangerously unbalanced by these books”. I think this explains all the drama we been having because of Romance can make us dangerous unbalanced, and that it can be as addictive and just as harmful as pornography. I am not really surprised by this view because some people view romance as a cheap genre and its really porn for women, which full of ignorant …

Welcome to this week’s news post! We have new book deals from favourite authors, new ereaders that will increase the competition in the market and loads more!

First up – the big news this week was the unveiling of new devices from Kobo and B&N. Both are offering similar ereading devices that are wifi enabaled and offer a virtual keyboard, and Pearl e-screen. However, the Kobo’s price is slightly cheaper going for $129 . For more info for its features click here http://www.kobobooks.com/touch_features – one of the sweetest things about the Kobo is that will cater to international languages and that may be one of the advantages compared to other e-readers.
In comparison the Nook will go for $139, for its features click here. This will definitely heat up the e-reading market and I got a funny feeling that before Christmas …

Yay and we are back this week on the right day and right time for this week’s news post. We are so sorry about the disruption due to Blogger maintenance fail last week but everything is back to normal *touch wood*.

This week we have some interesting tidbits about Amazon and epublishing in general as well as more Hunger Games updates.

The Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence first promo shots was unvieled this week as Katniss – I am still not that keen on most of the casting choices for this movie but it seems the big publicity hype machine is kicking up a gear just before the first scenes are shot this week. Click here for an eonline interview with Jennifer and some casting news
.

In a very surprising twist – Random House …

When Chloe Karras sings, she knows that no one can resist her sensual allure—except for the sexy naval officer seemingly immune to her voice. But Captain Alex Shore is just the man she wants to take home after her performance—until he tells her what she thought were imagined powers are real…and dangerous.

Alexandros knows firsthand how seductive sirens are, as well as their potential to destroy. Yet the former sea soldier feels a powerful attraction to the beautiful rock singer that goes beyond her spell. Welcome to this week’s news post! This week we have Apple morphing into big bad corporation, Hunger Games updates and Waterstones may be heading into Barnes and Nobel’s territory.

For people who have the iFlow app for the Apple Platforms – it was sadly announced earlier this week that they will close their apps due to Apple’s new rules about buying outside their platform and will only allow in apps i.e their store. I don’t know what this means for other stores like Amazon or Kobo who have their own apps but this will definitely affect users who read outside the iBookstore format. I think this is will be a huge mistake as iBookstore is one of the worse ebook stores which doesn’t have a great collection of books compared to B&N, Kobo and Amazon.

Whilst writing this post …

This week’s news post its a bit of a jammed packed one with interesting announcements and drama!

First up – this was so going to happen, especially since it was no real secret that Amazon has made its ambitions into the world publishing. Amazon has announced that it will launch an imprint that will focus on romance and its debut release will be Connie Brockway’s, The Other Guy’s Bride which will be slated for release in November. It will be interesting to note how this imprint fares but since Romance is a huge and best-selling genre it was no brainer that would have started an imprint for one. This isn’t the only Imprint for Amazon which also has launched, Amazon Crossing, AmazonEncore and Powered by Amazon which is the self published line. I’d also like to note that …

Interview Author Thea Harrison

We are very happy to welcome author Thea Harrison here at Book Lovers Inc today. Her new novel, Dragon Bound was just released and with all this pre-release buzz we just couldn’t pass on the chance to ask her some question about her work. Pleas give Thea a warm welcome.

BLI: Thea can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

Thea: I have been lucky in that I’ve had the opportunity to travel. I lived in England for several years, and that allowed me to see a bit of Europe. When I was nineteen I wrote my first category romance, and for many years I was Mills & Boon UK’s youngest author. Somehow I’ve still managed to wear quite a few hats—as a teenager I was a waitress, and I’ve been a receptionist, an office manager, a penniless …

I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter/Passover break! This week has been an interesting one for WTFERY and developments.

An interesting report from the US has found that ibooks store is not the success that Apple aims it to be, this is partly due to the fact that people who have ipads aren’t using it to primarily read ebooks and that only 40 percent of ipad users have read a book. Another 45 percent has stated they would prefer reading an ebook on their macs or PCs.

Agents are now stipulating that price escalators for ebook royalties should be implemented more widely, due to the rise of ebooks, especially when they have overtaken Mass Market print books earlier this year.

Self Published author Stephanie Mcafee has joined the ranks of Amanda Hocking into mainstream traditional publishing as she scored …
