Guestpost by Author Kaylea Cross + Giveaway

Today I am very happy to introduce to you Kaylea Cross, an author I just discovered last week, but who managed to make me a devoted fan with just one novel! Her latest release Deadly Descent was the most exciting and action packed romantic suspense novel I have ever read! (You can read my detailed review here.) Please give a warm welcome to Kaylea and read on to discover all that she did in the name of research for her latest novel!

Thanks again to Book Lovers Inc. for having me here today! Deadly Descent is the first of my Bagram Special Ops series, and it showcases a military heroine. I’ve felt strongly for a long time that women in the military aren’t being given enough recognition or attention, and that goes double for characters …

Guest Post: A Girly Look at Superheroes by Susan Bischoff + Giveaway

Today I am very happy to welcome one of THE authors who restored my faith in the YA genre and proved to me that stories about teenagers can be just as well written and entertaining for an older public (=older than teens) as adult books. Please welcome Susan Bischoff, author of the Talent Chronicles series, the second novel of which Heroes ‘Til Curfew was just released!

I lurrved Book #1 Hush Money (you can read my review here)and when I heard about the release of the second book I just had to ask Susan about something I have been wondering about for some time: Superheroes aren’t usually deemed as “girly.” How come you were inspired to write a story about them?
I’m a child of the 1970s. For us, the world was not supposed to be pink and blue. My mother has often told me …

Guest post: An American Abroad by Kenneth Rosenberg + Giveaway

Today I am very happy to welcome back to BLI Kenneth Rosenberg (you’ll be in on the secret as to the special reason for that once you read his guest post ;-p)! Kenneth is celebrating the release of his latest novel: Sweet Ophelia and the Tinseltown Blues, and he is here today sharing with us his thoughts and experience about being an American author living abroad.  Please give him a warm welcome and there is also a giveaway waiting for you at the end!

In his memoir, A Moveable Feast, Ernest Hemingway once wrote, “Maybe away from Paris I could write about Paris as in Paris I could write about Michigan.” As an American writer living in Budapest, I can see where he was coming from. Somehow being in a completely different environment from that which your story takes place seems to clarify all of the details. Things that you might have otherwise …

We are very happy to welcome author J. A. Saare here at Book Lovers Inc today.  Her latest novel, The Renfield Syndrome, book 2 in her Rhiannon’s Law series is released today and she is here to tell us why her characters always have a special name. Please give Jaime a warm welcome and don’t forget to leave a comment to win a book.

First—thanks for having me by the blog. It’s a pleasure to be here!

When I was asked to write about the importance of character names, I giggled. Why? Because I have a book that is a running joke for some readers. Disco, Paine, Goose—really? Where is Iceman? How about Maverick? I get that a lot. In retrospect I should have name them Dhisco, Phaine, and Ghoose. I would have made a killing. *grin*

We are very happy to welcome Ann Mayburn here at Book Lovers Inc today. I met Ann on twitter and she is such a wonderful funny person I just had to get her over here. Her newest release, Emerald Moon, book 2 in her Prides of the Moon series will be released tomorrow and she is here to ask us a question. Be sure to answer the question in the comments for your chance to win the first 2 books. Please give Ann a warm welcome.

Are You a Cat Person or a Dog Person?

Cat or dog shifters that is. 😉 I’ve always loved shifter stories, something about getting in touch with your inner animal appeals to me on a base level. It’s more than just being able to change form, it’s about becoming that creature, reverting to a more …

Guestpost: "A Ghost Romance? Say it ain’t so!" by Julia Rachel Barrett + Giveaway

I’m very happy to welcome the wonderful Julia Rachel Barrett here at Book Lovers Inc today. She just recently published her first ghost story, Incorporeal, a heartbreakingly good romance that will grab you from page one and not let you go till the end. This book was a real pleasure to read. And guess what, today she will tell us about trying to sell Incorporeal and she even brought a copy along for one lucky commenter. So keep the comments coming, you don’t want to miss this one.

When I pitched the outline of a ghost romance to three different publishers, they brushed me off before I could complete a single sentence.

“A ghost romance won’t sell. Nobody wants to read about an incorporeal hero.”

Incorporeal?

Those out of hand rejections shaped my story and provided a title. You know, we …

With her special set of skills, she solves mysteries for both the living and the dead, and of course, she gets into all kinds of trouble.

Thank you so much to Lea for having me as a guest here today at Book Lovers Inc.! Today we have the wonderful Kylie Brant here to tell us about some of her methods when researching material for her books. Today is also the release date of her newest novel, Deadly Sins. Congrats to Kylie and let’s celebrate all we can!

Take it away Kylie!

Think the worst writing advice I’ve ever heard is that old adage “write what you know”. What I know is not all that interesting. Oh sure, I’ve got some good material based on experience that might make an entertaining short story. If someone wants to know how to make dinner for seven with …
