Guestpost: A Gargoyle’s Guide to Important Characters in Black Night by Christina Henry + Giveaway

Today we are happy to welcome Christina Henry back at Book Lovers Inc. Black Night, book two in her Madeline Black series releases today. She brought along a little Guide about her characters composed by the more than awesome Beezle. Believe me, he’s a riot. Stay tuned till the end for your chance to win.

Hi! My name is Beezle, and I will be your incredibly handsome guide for today’s tour of important characters in BLACK NIGHT, the sequel to BLACK WINGS.

The first and most important character in the book, obviously, is me. Whenever I am in a scene I add much-needed intelligence. Maddy is no dummy, but she’s way too emotional and without me she’d end up doing even more dangerous things than she already does. Plus, without me there would never be doughnuts in the house. Maddy doesn’t …

Guestpost: Who Deserves a Happily Ever After? by Bettie Sharpe + Giveaway

Today we welcome to BLI an author whose stories aren’t magical just because of her enchanting writing style, but because she tells the story of princesses and talking cats and wizards and all things you can only encounter in a fairy tale. But wait a second, that is exactly what you’ll find in Bettie Sharpe’s Cat’s Tale: A Fairy Tale Retold, a modern retelling of the classic Puss in Boots tale with a surprising take on the old fable. (You can read Susi’s review here.) So give a warm welcome to Bettie Sharpe and let her tell you about what kind of happily ever after she likes to read about.

Fairy tales are very clear about what kind of heroine deserves a happily ever after. Sweet, patient young princesses who excel at domestic duties deserve …

Guestpost: Fantasy Matured by Philippa Ballantine

Today we are happy to welcome Philippa Ballantine at Book Lovers Inc! Philippa (or Pip to her friends ;-p) is not only New Zealand’s first podcast novelist she is also an author penning stories in a variety of genres: she released urban fantasy, fantasy and steampunk novels! Today she is here to tell us some behind the scenes secrets about her writing, please give Philippa a warm welcome!

Here’s a dirty little secret. Writers write what they know. Yes, even fantasy ones like myself.

So, by definition many of the writers write about characters that are about the age they are. Our life experiences—good and bad—bleed over into what problems our characters face, and how they handle with them. I know that as I have got older so too has the average age of my characters—especially the main point of view ones.

Even with …

Guestpost: Lessons Learned by Jocelynn Drake

Hello out there! I hope you’re enjoying your Thursday so far. Today we are very excited to have Jocelynn Drake author of the Dark Days series here to tell us about some of the lessons she has learned since becoming a published author.

Ms. Drake the stage is yours…

I’ve been a “professional writer” (defined here as having a paid contract with a publishing house) for approximately four years, and by many accounts I am still a newbie, a little wet behind my ears as I stumbled over various learning blocks in my path. I have had six books and one novella published, while being contracted for three more short stories and two books in a new series. At first glance, I struggle to believe that the “newbie” title still fits, but I’m still learning many things about the publishing industry …

Guest Post & Giveaway with Author Shelley Workinger

Happy Monday everyone! Today we would like to welcome to Book Lovers Inc. YA Author Shelley Workinger. Her works include Solid and soon to release Settling. Shelley is here today to share a bit of an insight on how the Solid series began.

At the risk of sounding a bit corny (or should I say flaky?), the “Solid” series came together a lot like a snowman. What will eventually be one complete whole – made up of three dependent parts – all started with just one small speck.

That first idea – the romantic scene that eventually became chapter twelve of “Solid” – was born in a dream. Now, I have vivid dreams all the time, but that one really stuck with me – kind of like good snowman-making snow , I couldn’t stop thinking about how those people could’ve ended up …

Guest Post: Why Book Blogs Matter by Kenneth Rosenberg + Giveaway

Today we are happy to welcome Kenneth Rosenberg to BLI, author of the romance novel No Cure for the Broken Hearted! Yes, you read that right, Kenneth as a man is the author of a sweet romance novel called a “fantastic love story” on Amazon. Today he is here to share with us his take as an author on book blogs, please give him a warm welcome and there is a giveaway waiting for you at the end! 😉

Of course, I know I don’t need to explain to anyone here how great books blogs are. If you didn’t already know, you wouldn’t be here, right?! That said, I still think it is worth pondering the importance of book blogs amid today’s rapidly evolving publishing industry.

Much has been said already about how ebooks have opened the field to authors who …

How One Call Inspired So Many Different Responses – Guest post by Lucy Felthouse + Giveaway

Today I would like to introduce you to Lucy Felthouse the creative mastermind and editor of the fantastic erotic anthology Uniform Behaviour. This book is full of scorching hot stories about men and women in different (sexy) uniforms be it soldier, sailor, fireman, cop or some other uniform you wouldn’t even think of at first like waiter, security guard or cleaner. (You can read my detailed thoughts in my review of Uniform Behaviour here at BLI.) Please give a warm welcome to Lucy and enter for your chance to win your own copy of Uniform Behaviour.

When I put out the submissions call for my erotic anthology, Uniform Behaviour, I expected to receive lots of stories about soldiers and firemen. They seemed to be the most favoured uniforms amongst people I’d spoken to. So, late last year, when the submissions started rolling in, I was pleasantly surprised. The call …

"Really? Bavaria?" – Guest post by Kate Noble + Giveaway

We are very happy to welcome historical romance author Kate Noble here at Book Lovers Inc today. Her newest novel Follow My Lead was just released and I was thrilled to hear where it is set: Bavaria. As a German I often wondered why not more historicals are set in Germany. There actually is enough history to be found in our textbooks. So let’s see what Kate thinks about it. Please give her a warm welcome.
One of the questions I get when I tell people about Follow My Lead is… “seriously? You set this book in Bavaria?”

Granted, southern Germany is not the standard locale for a Historical Romance. But my response to the strange looks and curious expressions is: Bavaria is awesome! And pretty! They have glockenspiels and lederhosen and beer! How can you not like Bavaria?!

In truth, I was introduced to this region …
