Welcome to this week’s news post, and we have more news on the DOJ and publishers over agency pricing, Stephen King’s new book and more wtfery about authors behaving badly again.
The remaining two publishers, Penguin and Macmillan are facing a lawsuit with the Department of Justice in the US over alleged collusion about Agency pricing, have submitted more information about their defence. Both Penguin and Macmillan have stated that their meetings with other publishers were part of social gatherings and had nothing to do with collusion. Apple will also be facing a lawsuit with the DOJ – Random House is the only publisher who isn’t facing an investigation and a lawsuit since they never initially joined the other Big 5 publishers when they adopted Agency pricing.

The Cinderella Blues (Thuh Sin’-dur-rel’-uh Bluze)
n.
1.
The phenomena whereby otherwise intelligent, capable, successful professional women are convinced they need rescuing by a prince.
My Thoughts:
The Cinderella Blues starts out in the middle of some of the cheesiest, I swear, the most cliché-ridden, bodice-ripping drivel ever written.
And I could have sworn this was supposed to be a contemporary romance. It said so right there on the label. A couple of pages later the heroine dropped out of her daydream and into an auto body shop. She was daydreaming this stuff.
That made way more sense. Haven’t you done that? I’ve done that. Drifted off in my head to fanfic-land. My fantasies aren’t half that cliché-full. At least, I hope not.

I am a kinda m/m virgin (you’ll see why the “kinda” below).
Those who have been living under a rock and don’t know what m/m is, here is a very official (insert sarcastic snicker) definition: “m/m stories are romance stories with male protagonists” as in hero&hero instead of a hero and a heroine.
Lately m/m stories are in a boom and now not just specific publishers like Dreamspinner Press are releasing this romantic subgenre, but mainstream publishers like Harlequin as well (their Carina Press imprint has a wide variety of m/m novels. Be it contemporary, historical or supernatural m/m you’ll find it.).
I first heard of this set-up in romance novels and that it had its own subgenre qualification through blogging: some of my favourite romance bloggers like Sophia from Fiction Vixen and Mandi from Smexy Books are big fans of this subgenre, but until recently, …

Hi, my name is Beth and I cry when I write my books. It’s true, so very true, and I always have a box of tissues nearby. My hubby has looked at me and said, “Why are you crying, these people aren’t real. You made them up!”
