Book Lovers Inc: Jory can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

Jory Strong: I live in Northern California and am a full time author. My passion, besides writing, is riding horses. I’m lucky enough to live out in the country, where my horses are just a short walk away, and where all I have to do is put a saddle on one of them and I can trail ride for hours. I’ve been …

Explore This! Avebury, England (with a pinch of London)

This week, I’m whisking you all off to Avebury, which looks very much like it’s in the heart of farming country in England. It is, in fact, only 32 kilometres away from the more famous stone circle, Stonehenge, though Avebury appears to be older (I got this information from the Wiki entry that I’ve linked below). What I also discovered while looking into Avebury is that there are solstice festivals celebrated there and it seems to still have ties to the old philosophies of witchcraft or pagan religions. For me, this is very cool. I went a little bit geeky researcher on this one because Stonehenge has always been on the top of my “places to visit” list, since reading a Hardy Boys mystery that featured these standing stones. It’s my current read of The Guardian of the Gate by Michelle …

Around the Bookish World: News Week-in-Review

Breaking Dawn news:
Casting rumours suggest that the producers have found the girl to play Renesmee although this is all rumoured right now but the movie will start shooting this Fall and will be split into two parts.

Producers have also said that the birth scene in Breaking Dawn will be visceral and intense but wont focus on the blood but on Bella’s point of view.

Sony has just announced its new ereaders, which will be available soon. All of the new models feature new Pearl screens and will have touch screens, however they wont be as cheap as the new Kindle which I think is pretty disappointing. And even though they have more of a push and market outside the US. I personally think that the Kindle which has finally got full support and now cheaper books will …

As writers we tend to spend our time focusing on our main character, or hero/heroine. They are what the story is about, they are often the ones telling it or at least in some way, we are seeing the world through their eyes. So we labor over every minute character detail. Our MC is brave, honest, smart, but also scared, clumsy, or challenged. We know them better than we know ourselves. We know their …
