A LOUISIANA DETECTIVE OF SUPERNATURAL CRIME

The homicide beat in Louisiana isn’t just terrifying, it’s demonic. Detective Kara Gilligan of the supernatural task force has the ability to summon demons to her aid, but she herself is pledged to serve a demonic lord.

And now, people who’ve hurt Kara in the past are dying for no apparent reason. To clear her name and save both the demon and human worlds, she’s in a race against the clock and in a battle for her life that just may take her to hell and back.

My Thoughts:

Well, where does one exactly begin? This latest book in Diana Rowland’s Kara Gillian series is one awesome piece of urban fantasy, building on earlier series entries to strike a wonderful balance between plot …

Best Books of August: Book Lovers Pick of the Litter

It’s that time again!

We’re back for another edition of “The Pick of the Litter”–the Book Lovers chance to squee a bit about the books we loved reading during the month.

Let the adoration begin…

Amanda: Storm Glass by Maria V. Snyder

I loved the Study series. Poison Study being a favourite of mine and Storm Glass was a great beginning to the Glass trilogy. I was almost afraid to start this series because the Study series was so good. Naturally I’m kicking myself now because I need more. Thankfully I have the next two books on my TBR.

I just love her world and her magic. I want to become a glassmaker at the moment and make a Swan.

Caro: Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews

I haven’t read much this month but the 1 book I read was awesome!  I read Magic Rises by Ilona …

Around The Bookish World: Week-In-Review

Welcome to this week’s news post! In this edition we have news on Barnes and Noble’s spat with Simon & Schuster is finally over, the sad passing of Elmore Leonard and more news in the world of publishing!

It finally looks like the year long spat between Simon & Schuster and Barnes and Noble is over.  The issue was over book pricing but there are no reports on how they settled it, but it will be good for those authors whose books were caught out in this disagreement which had some of their books not stocked in their stores.

This is so disappointing but I don’t think I will be buying any books from Cedar Fort who has dropped a book contract with an author called Michael Jenson due to the fact he is gay. He submitted a bio for his YA book which was contracted to them to be …

Blurb:

Originally appeared in the print anthology Three Weddings and a Kiss (1995).

Gwendolyn Adams is about to propose to an earl. On his deathbed.

Gwendolyn Adams isn’t shocked at being asked to save a handsome earl’s dying line, even when she learns the prospective bridegroom is seriously ill and possibly insane. She’s quite a good nurse, after all, and her family is famous for producing healthy male children. Those stories about his riding the moors half-naked on a pale white horse? Extremely intriguing—especially after she gets her first look at the gorgeous lunatic.

The Earl of Rawnsley wants only to lose what’s left of his mind in peace and …
